Jac 'n' Roll
Opening in September of 2007, Jacflash is a new Queen West boutique trying to bring some glitz and guitars to the typical street scene. Over a year in the making, the store is poised to offer Toronto fashion-hounds something a little more polished than the average boutique. Dejour spoke with Jaclyn Genovese, Managing Partner, about her new endeavor.

What’s the story behind the store?

‘Jacflash’ is partly based on my name. The Jac comes from my nickname since I was very young, and the flash is inspired by the flash of paparazzi lights. We want to make our customers feel like stars when they wear our clothes.

What does Jacflash bring to the area that other stores don’t?
We try to feature numerous lines that aren’t carried anywhere else, some of which aren’t even carried within Canada. Our music section adds a unique touch to our store. Jacflash is a continuation of the Queen West vibe, but we also carry more glamorous pieces and style you’ll find nowhere else.

What’re some highlights of what’s in store right now?
This spring, we’ll present timeless pieces that have an extra edge.  Tuxedo-style shirting that can be worn casually, blazers by Operations with signature neon accents, as well as Hickey’s schoolboy pieces with impeccable tailoring and modern fits.

The store has a unique aesthetic considering its location; what is being inside of Jacflash supposed to feel like and where does that inspiration come from?
We focus on both fashion and music to give our customers more than just a clothing store. We want it to be an experience when you walk in. It should feel like you’re inside the closet of a rock star.

What are some classics you think every guy who shops with you should own?
A pair of versatile jeans, at least one well-tailored white shirt, a pair of shoes that are stylish yet suitable for multiple occasions, suede moccasin loafers or boots. A well-cut blazer or dress coat is also a must. We carry a lot of great pieces like this from brands like Transit, Endovanera, and Rogue’s Gallery; come spring, we’ll have a selection of n.d.c. shoes.

Jacflash is loacted at 1036 Queen St. West, Toronto, Ontario.  (416) 516 - 8766
